Autonomous racing competitions are fun. Imagine several cars zooming past the audience at speeds above 100 mph while avoiding collisions, maneuvering the obstacles, and competing to win the race fully autonomously! These competitions are a platform for prototyping, testing, and evaluating various ideas in the domain of autonomous vehicles.
Offering
We at UNC Chapel Hill work on developing algorithms, tools, and frameworks for developing safe autonomous systems. Our team has expertise in actuation tasks for autonomous systems, primarily in planning and control. We have expertise in developing and extending planning algorithms based on RRTs, PRMs, and partitioning based planning methods such as Voronoi diagrams or discrete state partitions. We also have control design and implementation exprtise such as PID, Pure Pursuit controller, and Model Predictive Control based methods. We also develop techniques to prove that our algorithms at the level of planning and actuation are safe. We have been one of the top contenders in autonomous vehicle racing competition F1Tenth.
Needs
We are open to collaborate with any team(s). Collaborators that complement our expertise are especially welcome.
