The Value of Collaboration

A central premise of the IAC is collaboration, the value proposition of partners working together to achieve something great. We see it in our IAC teams, more than 500 students and faculty from 38 universities worldwide designing AI software systems to advance automated mobility. We experience it with our IAC partners and sponsors, Dallara and Clemson University’s Deep Orange Program, Ansys and Microsoft, integrating the team’s AI software into Dallara’s IL-15 racecar and providing the most sophisticated simulation technology to the teams. And we value our collaborations with Aptiv, AutonomouStuff, the State of Indiana, the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) and others — all of which make this historic first head-to-head, high-speed autonomous race possible.

Appropriately in this August issue of The Leaderboard, we feature our exclusive simulation sponsor, Ansys, the global leader in engineering simulation software. We speak with Dr. Sandeep Sovani, director of ADAS and Autonomy at Ansys, who tells us why he values the IAC and how their simulation software has been modified for this particular university challenge. Our technology column, Driving Innovation, educates us on how simulation software works, and of course, we profile four more IAC university teams.
